Get rid of musty smells

Our basement is old and damp and when we first moved in it made everything smell old and damp. Then my husband's grandma told me to fill plastic containers full of white vinegar and set them around the house, preferably in the mustiest corners. That really helped.

Also, you can't go wrong with a dehumidifier.

I've read that charcoal works well, too, to soak up some of the smell. Or baking soda, but it'd probably take a lot of those little boxes! ;-)
