Simple Syrup: Budget Food Tip

Simple syrup is a common ingredient in mixed drinks, as well as many summertime drinks like lemonade and iced tea. The syrup is literally simple – it’s a mixture of equal parts sugar and water.
To make, bring 1 cup water to a boil in a small saucepan, then pour in 1 cup sugar. Stir constantly and, once the sugar is fully dissolved, remove the pan from the heat and allow it to cool. Once cooled, it can be used to sweeten iced tea, mint juleps...
