Simply Good Media:

Oh, Ottoman: Look For Less

November 5, 2008

We love ottomans. Not only are they incredibly versatile (they’re more than just foot stools these days), they’re also a great way to add some sleek, modern, sophistication to your living room. The only problem? They can be expensive. Especially if you’re looking for a brand new one wrapped in the fabric of fall… leather.

When we fell in love with this pricey option from the Pottery Barn ($399 for a leather ottoman, really!?), we began our hunt for something similar; there had to be cheaper versions out there. And we were right. We found three beautiful cash-conserving buys at two of our go-to stores.

Unbelievably affordable, you could buy two of these small, square units (pictured above, $39.88) and push them together to create a chic, sleek coffee table. When you have company over you can separate them to create extra seating.

This option (pictured above, $89.99) from Target is also cheap and versatile, but it has a hidden extra feature: if you remove the lid, you’ll find a dark wood tray (perfect for placing drinks or food on).

And if you’re looking for something a wee bit bigger, we’re sure you’ll love this large, rectangular unit (pictured above, $79.88). It takes two seconds to put together and when you’re done, you have a foot rest, large table and storage space (all-in-one).
