Sunflowers are an excellent way to attract birds and butterflies to your yard, and the seeds are a great food source for wildlife. After the flowers have stopped blooming and the seed head has matured, simply leave the plants in the garden for the birds and animals to feed on.

Sunflowers are easy to grow and add cheer to any garden. Simply choose a location in your yard that gets full sun all day long. Any type of soil will do, as long as it is well draining. Compost or other organic material added to the soil will benefit the plant as well. Be sure to plant multiple sunflower seeds in the same area to ensure cross-pollination.
