Election Night Fun: Entertaining on a Budget
We’re lucky to live in a democratic country. (Compared to some other places on earth, we have things pretty good.) Which is why, when we have the chance, we should celebrate all the rights and privileges that come along with it. So, on November 4th, after taking our due time to vote for our next President, we’re planning to throw an Election Party for us and our friends. It’s our little way of celebrating the life we lead in the best country in the world. Here’s what we plan to do.
We’ll be eating…
What better way to celebrate America than by indulging in some of our favorite (and original) U.S. dishes. That includes grilled burgers and hot dogs, baked sweet potato fries and corn on the cob. To help out (and to cut costs), we plan on asking our friends to bring tossed salads and sweet desserts.
We’ll be drinking…
If our friends want to indulge in some alcoholic bevys, we’ll be offering up locally brewed beers. But for those who want to imbibe in the non-alcoholic variety of drink, we'll be making root beer floats and serving up good old fashioned glass bottles of Coke.
We’ll be decorating with…
Red, white and blue. From the napkins to table cloths, our décor will be all American, all night long. We’ll be sure to set everything up in our living room so people can watch the night’s election coverage (or even listen to it on the radio). And as parting gifts, we’ll be handing out little loot bags full of American treats. Think striped pencils, Dubble Bubble gum, chocolate bars and even a whoopee cushion . . . because we're all going to need a good laugh once it's all said and done.
