Clean Your Closet: DIY

May 9, 2008

Spring is in full swing its time for you to clear your clutter and clean your closet. Our friends over at Threadbangers.com have a video that show you how to clean and organize your closet in a crafty and budget-friendly way.

Here are some of our favorite closet-organizing tips.
1. Over the door shoe holder. We got ours from Lowes for $6.88. It was the best price in town. It gets our shoes off the ground and declutters the space. We love it.
2. We also love the sweater shelves from Lowes, again $6.88. We like to stack sweaters there in the winter and t-shirts in the summer.
3. Stash away out of season items. Every season go through your drawers and your closet and fold up your out of season items and put them in a large plastic tote or plastic bag and stash them away under the bed or in the attic until it’s time to pull them back out again. I use this time to go through and decide what to keep and what to give to Goodwill.
4. Hang purses, belts and scarves on hooks and within eyesight. Or else you might forget about them and then how will you accessorize?
5. Everyone says to hang your clothes by color in your closet. We have never been able to make this work for us, but maybe it will work for you. Let us know.
