Planting mint, lemon balm and other herbs is a great, low-cost way to have fresh herbs on hand all season. However, if left unchecked, these plants can take over your entire garden.

To keep invasive plants from choking out the rest of your garden, try this: rather than planting them directly in the ground, place the plants in a large planter (a plastic planter from the purchase of a plant works great) first. Then plant the plant in the ground, hiding the container with dirt.
